50 Truths in Black and White

As Valentine’s Day approaches, a lot of us are thinking about love, commitment, marriage, and a bunch of other heat-shaped topics. Unfortunately, this year we’re also plagued by a particularly sordid trend represented by the popular 50 Shades of Grey.

If you haven’t heard of 50 Shades of Grey (it’s possible!), check out the standard description of the book, or the movie (coming out on…Valentine’s Day). With labels like “erotic” and “s and m” you get a basic sense of why the story is so controversial.

As the title of the book suggests, the story explores many “shades” of sexual pleasure, morality, love, etc. According to the Word, there are not shades of right and wrong. There’s God’s way, and not-God’s-way.

So, in light of all the 50 Shades of Grey philosophizing going on, here are 50 basic, black and white truths to keep in mind:

  2. While you were His enemy, God sent His only son to reconcile you to Himself (Romans 5:8-10)
  3. Now you are in the light and ought to live as a child of the light (Ephesians 5:8)
  4. Children of the light have nothing to do with evil (Ephesians 5:11)
